Multiple Failed Cycles of IVF, IUI, or Donation?

If you’ve been through one or more failed IVF cycles, or rounds of IUI, egg donation, sperm donation, or double donation, you’re probably carrying more than just physical exhaustion. You might be feeling deflated, stuck, or questioning every decision. It’s an incredibly difficult place to be.
I am here to give you the perspective and tools to move forward with more clarity and confidence. Not with false hope, but with grounded, experience-driven support.
First, a Truth That Matters
Failed cycles don’t mean you’ve failed.
But doing the same thing repeatedly without new insight or strategy can keep you stuck in a painful loop. That loop is often made worse by urgency, the push to move forward quickly, try again, book the next round, chase results. But real progress often starts with a pause.
1. Permit Yourself to Pause
Pausing isn’t giving up, it’s making space to reflect. It’s the moment you shift from reacting to regrouping. And sometimes, that’s the most powerful move you can make.
Taking a breath gives you time to gather information, process what you’ve learned, and make more intentional decisions going forward.
2. Be More Intentional with What Comes Next
Rather than jumping back into another cycle, ask yourself:
What worked last time and what didn’t?
What questions weren’t asked or answered?
What parts of the process felt misaligned?
This isn’t about blaming anyone (including yourself). It’s about moving forward with purpose, not guesswork.
3. Consider a Different Approach
If you’ve been doing things the same way and hitting a wall, it might be time to explore new options including treatment abroad.
Going abroad isn’t just about cost; it can also mean:
Access to different protocols or technologies
Shorter waiting lists
A fresh clinical perspective
Feeling like you're in control again
It’s not the right path for everyone, but it’s a valid option worth exploring with proper support.
4. Learn From Experience
I’ve been there: multiple failed cycles before the birth of our son. That path was steep, lonely, and at times, completely overwhelming. But what changed things for me was creating a clear strategy.
One that considered:
My history
The emotional cost
Clinical evidence
Logistics I could realistically manage
You're not starting over. You’re starting from experience.
5. Move Forward With a Proper Plan
When you’re ready, the next step should be built around you:
Your body
Your history
Your priorities
Your budget
Your capacity (emotional, physical, logistical)
That means stepping away from trial and error and stepping into informed, supported action.
You Deserve a Clear Path
Whether you’re still navigating the UK fertility system or already researching other options, know this: You don’t have to figure it out alone.
You’re allowed to change direction.
You’re allowed to take your time.
You’re allowed to expect better support.
Let your experience be your compass — and let your next step be a strategic one.
